Cooking Up My Comeback by Cindy Ray Hale

I enjoyed this book, especially with how it is a longer book with over 400 pages! It really gives plenty of time for you to really know the character and their depth! It is a very easy story to be completely immersed in and near impossible to put down. The kids are definitely my favorites in this story, they are so so precious🥰
This is the 1st book in the “Twin Waves Sweet Romcom” series.

Internal thoughts while reading
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Max and Crew are so precious!!
The beginning is give Luke and Lorelai vibes🥹
Opening a restaurant definitely sounds stressful but also so so much fun😍
Brett’s past breaks my heart💔
Ugh Amber and Brett kinda frustrate me because they just can’t seem to pull themselves together! Just when they are making progress in their relationship a simple, tiny thing get majorly blown out of proportion and made a huge deal🫠 I understand all the feeling and pain they each felt but also they seem just a bit dramatic about everything😂😂
I’m loving the personal growth in Brett😘
Chad is such a tool😡
Brett is just a bit clumsy, and I love it😂

“Cookies make everything better.”
“You need someone who sees your strength, not just your sunshine. Someone who doesn’t try to dim your light but isn’t blinded by it either.”
“Just because someone is nice sometimes, it doesn’t mean they’ll stay nice.”
“Love isn’t avoiding the storm…it’s learning to dance in the rain.”
“What if I’m not brave enough?” “Then I’ll be brave enough for both of us until you catch up.”

OVERVIEW: Sunny single mom + grumpy protective silver fox + forced proximity = one sizzling slow burn

Amber:
When the health inspector shut down the diner I manage, I lost more than my paycheck. Suddenly, I’m standing in the wreckage of the life I’d been drifting through, with three hungry kids, a stack of my grandma’s recipes, and no backup plan.

I never planned to chase my own dream—but maybe I should. And apparently, Brett Walker thinks so too. He’s a gruff contractor, ex-military, and the last man I expected to offer help. His business proposal could change everything. The catch? We’ll be working side-by-side, day after day, and my sunny outlook seems to clash with his stormy moods… even as something warmer starts to take root between us.

Brett:
I came to Twin Waves to renovate a few properties, keep my head down, and move on. That’s what I do—fix things, then walk away.

But Amber’s not just another project. She’s stubborn, strong, and more capable than she realizes. And the more time I spend with her—and her kids—the harder it is to imagine leaving when the work is done.

She’s sunshine with a side of sass. He’s grump with a hammer. Together, they might just build something worth keeping.
