DNF- Meet Me At The Drive-In by C.P. Cabaniss

A cute story. After meeting one summer and then not seeing each other for 6 years the MCs rekindle their friendship. They are a little obsessed with thoughts of kissing though. It felt like every chapter had an inner monologue about how they wanted to kiss each other but were too scared. Normally I don’t mind some of that but since it started in chapter very early and went on for 20 plus chapters, it felt redundant.
There also is a good bit of swearing sadly, more than I originally thought(see below). I really like Helen. She was kinda my favorite in the book!
I DNF’d at 61% for a few reasons… the MCs were fun to read about but I didn’t quite enjoy the way they acted and the zero communication between them. There was significantly more swearing than I expected, which ultimately made it a poor fit for my reading preferences.the overall vibe felt very lustful, both MMC and FMC had constant inner monologues about kissing the other as well as “admiring” each other’s physical appearances/their bodies. The relationship progressed slowly because of ongoing miscommunication, which is a trope I personally don’t enjoy. To each their own though, I’m sure this fits the bill for some but it just doesn’t for me.
As always, this review reflects my personal reading preferences and experience. Every reader connects with books differently, and this one simply wasn’t the right fit for me.
